In the long run….

Amazing things can happen when you go on a long run.  I never wear headphones. I love the stillness, the rhythm of my feet hitting the ground, and listening to the birds around me. I get lost in my thoughts. Recently, while running near a forest, a memory of my childhood flashed through my mind—climbing a massive tree and feeling like I was up in the sky, at eye level with the birds.

That moment reminded me how life is full of these small, personal memories that shape us. Many of my memories are simple: kicking a soccer ball against a wall, cycling for hours, or just walking by a river. These small experiences became the foundation of who I am today.

As I reflected more during these runs, I realized the value of everyone’s story, no matter how big or small. Life isn’t just about those dramatic, life-changing moments—it’s also about the everyday memories and quiet reflections.

Why Share Your Story?

This space is for anyone who wants to share their story, whether it’s about triumph, struggle, or just those small moments that shaped who you are. It’s about giving people the chance to write their own story in their own words—anonymously if you prefer. Your story doesn’t need to be polished or perfect. It’s about capturing the essence of your journey, whatever that may be.

  • Maybe you’re like me, reflecting on childhood memories.
  • Or perhaps you’ve gone through major life changes, and you want to share what you’ve learned.
  • Maybe you’ve overcome personal struggles, and your story could inspire someone else.

Whatever your story is, we want to hear it. There’s no pressure to be someone you’re not. It’s about sharing your truth, your experiences, and your lessons.

A Chance to Inspire Others

By sharing your story, you can give readers the opportunity to connect with experiences that resonate with them. Your life’s journey—whether filled with quiet moments or dramatic changes—could be the spark of inspiration for someone else. In return, you can also read stories from others, gaining insight, wisdom, and maybe even a deeper understanding of your own life.

We believe that every person’s life is worth documenting, no matter where they’ve come from or what they’ve gone through. In the long run, it’s these stories—yours and others—that show us how connected we really are.

So, take a moment, reflect on your life, and if you feel inspired, write your story. It doesn’t need to be long, and you can keep your identity completely private. The important thing is that your story is yours to tell.

For me, if there was one piece of advice I could give to my younger self, it would be this: stay committed to sports. Physical exercise is one of the best things you can do for yourself—mentally, physically, and emotionally. Try everything. Play everything. It’s a fantastic way to blow off steam, stay fit, and feel good. Even now, I still play as many games as I can, but running has become my go-to. All you need is a pair of shoes, and you’re off. Like most things in life, the more you do it, the better you get.

When I first signed up for a half marathon, I could barely run a mile. Now, I find running a half marathon easier than going to a wedding! Running may be tough, but it always makes me feel good. The more you run, the better you feel—that’s a guarantee.

Another thing: don’t drink excessively..

Here are two of my favourite quotes that have stuck with me over the years:

  • “The man who moves a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.”
  • “When nothing seems to help, I go and look at a stonecutter hammering away at his rock, perhaps a hundred times without a crack showing in it. Yet at the 101st blow, it will split in two, and I know it wasn’t the last blow that did it, but all those that came before.”

These quotes remind me that progress takes time. Whether it’s running, self-improvement, or any challenge in life, each small step you take matters. It’s not always the last push that leads to success—it’s the cumulative effort of everything you’ve done up to that point.
